Through direct participation in the band, students develop an appreciation of music and expand instrumental abilities: while provid- ing entertainment and promoting school en- thusiam. This year, the Chartiers-Houston joint High School Band, directed by Mr. Chi- mento, was composed ol' 77 musicians. In the fall, performances were given at the half-time of football games. One outstanding show was enacted when the band combined with that of Canonsbnrg. For two hall-time shows the band traveled to Darlington and Shenango. The last football show was dedicated to the Seniors. Throughout the school year, the band par- ticinated in various assemblies, pep meetings and parades. The annual Spring Concert had a modern and melodious twist this year. Selec- tions were playcd by the Concert Band which were very familiar, In addition to their musical performances the band members also held several outstand- ing events - Banquet in December, Jazz Bow Jump in January and a picnic at the end of summer practice.
