Class Day theme-Television Claim' Griffith, Terrance ..Ten,y,, Machinist April 17 Chorus 4, 3g junior Play . . . silly jokes and quips . . . sensational pantomines . . . small but mischievous . . . seldom seen without Shanning . . . one of thc friendliest Seniors. In September 1949, the doors of CTHS swung open to 120 verdant freshmen who were clamor- ing to begin their high school education. Some- what frightened by the bells, and decidedly con- fused by the lengthy assignments of Science, His- tory, and Algebra that were handed out to us, we wondered if any of us would ever make a passing grade. However, our difficulties began to smooth out after a few weeksg and before we realized it, spring flowers were blooming and vacation was at hand. As silly sophomores we answered the roll call in September, 1950. We marched importantly to rooms 12, 14, and 15, convinced that we were the up and coming class. Although our class members began to participate in the school ac- tivities, we didnit yet know who was the best quarterback, the biggest brain, or the guy who was readiest with a wisecrack. During our Junior year we received our class rings and wore them proudly. We presented Men Are Like Streetcarsf, a three-act comedy, as our junior play. The highlight of our social events was the junior Prom, which we held in honor of the Seniors. We were the first class to hold a post-prom party. Two hundred students attended this event at the Washington country c ub. September 1952 was the beginning of this all important Senior year. VVe elected class officers, selected class colors and a motto. Our class members were prominent in the school's activi- ties. Our Senior play was Seventeen is Awfully Young. This was the year of pictures, name cards, invitations and gowns. As we go to press with our yearbook we look back-having played the last game, participated in the final concert, and taken the last examination-we are now ready to move on to larger roles in the affairs of community, nation and world. IL We wish to pav t11bute to two members of the class of 1953 MGIWIH Beall dled February 1952 and Eric Henderson died August 1952 whose deaths were a real loss to our Senior group as well as to then families ' 9 I . . . 30
