hip'5 og Well, mates, here we are seniors with graduation day not far ahead! This is the time we have all been waiting for and, I guess, we feel very proud of ourselves. But do you remember a day iust four short years ago ffor some it may be five or six! when we were mere freshmen? Remember all those English rules we had to memorize and the innumerable lunch periods we spent with our fav- orite English teacher, because we hadn't learned them quite right? The Wash- ington Seminary holds fond memories for some of us because we couldn't find time to pass certain subjects in a regular nine month period. We didn't get much of anything done that year but were pushed around until we got into the swing of things. Now we're sophomores! We have a little more to do and with Miss Lawton as our class advisor we have made a success out of the sophomore dance. We elected class officers for the first time and have high hopes for the future. It's now September of 'I946 as we shove off into our iunior year with ban- ners flying. Things are really happening fast! Everyone has to do some sailing this year to get things done on time. Remember the play, Here Comes the Brides , that we put on? Johnny Carroll's two stirring lines won't soon be for- gotten. All those skating parties, iuke box dances, square dances, assemblies fmostly good but a few dry ones mixed in tool, and numerous other things will live in our memories. Who will ever forget the decorations for the Prom? How could we have ever struggled through all those activities without the assistance of Mrs. Hackman, our class advisor? Room 17 ahoy! Now we're seniors! There is never a dull moment. We wonder if Miss Rutherford's efforts to teach math to McGowan and Savelsberg will be in vain. They may even become famous mathematicians. We beat Canonsburg Gunners at last! Mr. Matz gave us a whole day to celebrate. It will be difficult to choose a King and Queen of May because there are so many seniors deserving of the honor. Graduation is iust around the corner and to be honest with ourselves we are sorry it is all over. We fully realize that these days will be some of our most cherished memories. But time waits for no one and we must now embark on our long voyage into unchartered future. 23
