THE LAMP NINET EEN HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FIVE Editor Dianne Lundy Assistant Editor Mary Anna Caudle Business Manager Wanda Bolick CHARLOTTE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Charlotte, North Carolina i In the fall of 1941 the Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing was established. To date, over six hundred young women have gradu- ated from this program. It is one of the leading diploma programs in this area of the country and has grown steadily since its beginning. In 1959 a new student nurse ' s resi- dence was completed and in 1961 a new 200 bed wing was added to the hospital. The fail of 1964 marked the completion of a new educational build- ing and an apartment building for married students. Morrison, director The Glee Club is the largest organization on our campus and is composed of seventy- three voices. They have given many perform- ances during the year including programs for student, faculty, and alumni events, and have presented a Spring Concert in our auditor- ium, have appeared at the Charlottetown Mall and on WSOC-TV. Mr. J. D. Morrison, who is choir director at Park Road Baptist Church and sings with the Charlotte Opera Association, is their di- rector. The Council ' s author- ity is exerted in matters of group living, lack of respect for other ' s property, as well as that of the hospital and school, and in incidents of untruthfulness. An honor code is integrated into the policy of the Council, by which each student coope- rated in maintaining group and personal honor in all phases of social and professional life. RESIDENCE HALL Obeying rules in a dorm is one thing most girls would prefer to ignore. But, for our own safety and the other person ' s welfare, this group have the job of seeing that the rules are followed. They have done a good job of being fair, yet not being forceful. Some of their thankless jobs are checking to see that everyone is in on time, checking to see that all the exit doors are locked, and keeping ac- count of demerits. It is always interesting, inform- ative, and full of surprises with a new fea- ture in each paper and a gossip column. SOCIAL COMMITTEE Our Social Committee is an active organization which promotes activi- ties in which the student body may participate. This year they have been responsible for bridge lessons, ping-pong tournaments, sock hops, the Christmas dance and Spring semi-formal, as well as many other en- joyable events. We are especially thankful for the marvelous job that they have done this year. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council Organization transacts all business of the Student Government Organization and coordinates the activities of our various clubs and organizations on campus. The Council, composed of the four Student Government officers, the president of the student body, repre- sentatives from each class, and the presidents of each school club, helps to maintain high standards of loyalty, duty, and scholarship.
