Dedication TO OUR PARENTS As we near one of the milestones of our lives, we realize that very few of the things we have accomplished would have been possible without the help of our parents. They have worked and sacrificed that we m.ght have the opportunities that were not available to them. Now that we are on the threshold of a new way of life, we pause to pay special tribute to our parents by saying simply, We love you and appreciate all you have done for us. The Seniors of 1961

3ovewovd This was the year . . for many a time of completion ' of the three years of hard work and for others a time of beginning to fulfill a lifelong ambition. This annual exposes to all a complete day in the life of a student nurse. From that alarm clock which always goes off too early to that last goodnight to your roommate before pulling up the covers and wandering off to dreamland, we experience new things in each day, some never to be repeated. We have chosen TIME as the theme because we feel that the years we spent in preparation for our chosen career is a time of giving freely of our time, efforts, skills, knowledge, and youthfulness. . . . twenty-four hours a day

Recognizing that nursing is instrumental in the promotion of health and is an integral part of our society, the faculty accepts the responsibility of providing for the progressive development of the student as a nurse, a person, and a contributing member of our democratic society. Believing this, the faculty pro- vides planned learning experi- ences in an atmosphere in which each student is accepted as an individual with consideration of her needs and interests and is encouraged to participate to the level of her ability. We believe learning is more effective if the student receives guidance in learning experiences that are re- lated to life situations. We fur- ther believe these learning ex- periences enable the student to give comprehensive nursing care and become a more mature and competent individual who is self- understanding, self-directing and capable of assuming the responsi- bilities of a patient-side nurse in areas other than public health.
