By Waters of Ontario, beside the Genesee In Grace and quiet beauty, Charlotte will ever be. In the above words from our Alma Mater the theme of the 1957 Witan, Time and Tide is expressed, in its truest sense. Charlotte High School has maintained its proud position for 53 years and during this time many generations of youth have been influenced. Throughout history, youth has always been the ideal time of life. If this were not so, why should those who have it, live in dreams of it, build their lives from it, and live with the memory of it? Like the waves of Lake Ontario endlessly rolling upon the sand, thousands of students have entered the portals of our school, and after charting their courses, making life long friends and participating in various activities- moved out into the sea of life, just as the Genesee River continues to wind its way to the Lake. Youths' adven- tures and activities are livelier than those of old age. Imagination seems to flow more easily across their minds like the tide. To Youth comes new ideas, new thoughts, new plans, all of which are surrounded with the en- thusiasm that only Youth displays in its undertaking and only time will tell what is to be. The theme of Time and Tide lends itself naturally to Charlotte High School because of its age and locale. We, the Class of 1957, hope that you the readers con- cur with us in the thought that it is logical and germane. Remember, Time and Tide wait for no man.
