-l-o Qur Friend ond Guide . . Dr. james S. Wishart Dr. Wishart earned both his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Science degrees at the University of Rochester. He then went on to Princeton University where he ob- tained his Master of Arts and his Doctor ot Philosophy degrees. His interest in geology took him into neighboring states and parts of Canada including Labrador, On- tario, and Quebec, where he served as a geologist. After that experience he re- turned to Rochester where he held the positions of teacher, counse- lor, and boys' adviser at john Mar- shall High School. He is a lecturer in geology at the University of Rochester. ln September of i946 he came to Charlotte High School as Vice- Principal. Since then he has be- come both a counselor and a sec- ond tather to boys and girls alike. The members of the Class of i953 proudly dedicate this Rain- bow edition of the Witan to Dr. james S. Wishart.

Qur principol Mr. Glenn M. Denison February 5, l953 Both in scripture and in folklore, the rainbow symbolizes a promise. May each of you 1953 graduates fulfill your promise by being true to what you have learned in your homes and in your school. You go out into a confused and confusing world. Uncertainty is the pattern of the times. Decisions are difficult. But basic values do not change. Truth, decency, respect for self and others - these do not lose their meaning. We can make our decisions on the basis of the best that we know and feel. Then we can face the most uncertain future with confidence, and without fear or shame. Glenn lvl. Denison
