A century, the greatest, is half gone Fifty years of waiting for dawn of day - Our day has come - and we are going away. We shall return to you, Charlotte, it's true But on the day we end our senior year, Walk through that door into a strange new life You will belong to still another group To share their joy and fear of age-old strife. There remains only one of you, Charlotte, To mind both names and faces in each class. You will forget us as we try for our Varied fame before many days shall pass. The memories of which we speak differ In hearts of both the bold and meek, the gay, The sad, and those who think the world is m ad. But we all, whenever we think of you, Will doubly try to make our dreams come true You've seen us through the trying years of youth, Have tried to teach us what is wrong and truth For you have nursed our adolescent fears, Begun to mold experience of years Into decent careers of fruitful life.
