EL WOOD LARSEN Superintendent Always busy and very ded- icated to our school system best describes Mr. Elwood Lar- sen. This is his fourth year in the Charlotte Public School Sys- tem. His many responsibilities are setting up the yearly bud- get, hiring and negotiating with teachers, and coordinating pol- icies set up by the school board. His improvements in the school system are welcomed by every- one in the community. MALCOLM GO BEL 6 Assistant Principal As assistant principal for CHS, Mr. Gobel runs a tight schedule enabling him to fulfill many respon- sibilities. The majority of his time is spent record- ing daily attendance al- though he is always will- ing to lend a helping hand elsewhere. Mr. Gobel has assumed the job as our athletic director for 35 years. During those years he coached Oriole football with a grand total of 127 wins, 51 losses, 8 ties, 11 conference championships. For coaching the cross country team for the past few years Mr. Gobel has received 2 state champion- ships. This being Mr. Go- bel's last year at CHS, he has been honored by the naming of the football field after him, Malcolm J. Gobel Field.

ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP . . . JAMES H. CHAMPION As principal Mr. Champion's main interest lies in the students of CHS. He is always understanding in student and faculty problems. He tries to bring out better student and teacher relationships. Mr. Champion keeps the school operating efficiently and in good condition. Some of his duties include handling discipline, scheduling classes, scheduling extra activities, and working with teachers. 7
