JAMES CHAMPION—Principal Always busy, always interested—Mr. Cham- pion keeps CHS operating smoothly and ef- ficiently—yet he seems to find time to lend an understanding hand in faculty and student problems. He works throughout the summer improving our curriculum by assigning teachers to areas they are best qualified for. Yet, his main interest lies in the well being of the student body. MR. MALCOLM GOBEL—Assistant Principal Keeping a busy schedule, Mr. Gobel gives his valuable assistance in the expanding re- sponsibilities of the administration. He spends a great deal of his time recording daily attendance along with handling disci- pline. Mr. Gobel is athletic director for all sports and takes time out as cross country coach.

MR. ELWOOD LARSON—Superintendent As superintendent of the Charlotte School System, Mr. Elwood Larsen assumes the great deal of loyalty and energy needed to fulfill his position. He has been with us for three years and continues to do an excellent job with his responsibilities. Mr. Larsen works in cooperation with the School Board and coordinates the policies they set. ADMINISTRATION: steady hanc directior MR. JOHN SMITH—Assistant Superintendent Mr. John Smith has spent much of his time within the walls of the Charlotte School System. Twenty years ago he started as principal and taught math and social studies along with Latin. Now he remains a dedicated man as assistant superintendent to Mr. Elwood Larsen. 10
