Fall Reaching the end of their duration, the leaves turned into the beau- tiful autumn colors and lell to the earth adding lest to the last lew months of liall. just as nature prepares the earth lor the luture, so must the schools and community of Charlotte prepare their students for their future life in our city, state, and nation. XVith the fall season came the beginning ol school. lfor freshmen it was an introduction to new subjects like biology and algebra: lor sophomores it was plane geometry, and for juniors and seniors, chem- istry, physics, and advanced math courses promised new challenges. Seniors were to become more articulate about our democracy and our economic problems. For some students this was their lirst year of high school. They had a lot to look lorward to. The clubs and other organ- ized activities, the new classes, new teachers, and new schedules kept them busy. For others, fall presented the beginning ol' their last year in high school, but these students found that they were anticipating many new experiences with enthusiasm. Football and cross country were the sports of the season. 'l'here were also many extracurricular activities around the school. The high school clubs were looking for new inembersg underclass and senior pictures were taken, dances were held, and the juniors had their annual niaga- zine sales. Yes, indeed, fall was a very busy and active season, filled to the brim with excitement and hard work. 11
