Well there arent any feath crs on you And then there was the natui alist who tried to cross a turkex with a centlpede so everybodv could have a drumstick Teacher Is it correct to sav' You have et Jimmy No its wrong Teacher Why IS it Wrong to say You have et 'P Jimmy Because I a1nt et xe Freshman Talent On February 14, the freshman class put on a very successful and delightful assembly to celebrate St Valentines Day To personify the King and Queen of Hearts were Ernest Hamilton and Doris Frazier They made a companionable couple although thc Queen was very particular about the Kings behavior in court Warren Phillips and Gary Frace acted as the royal pages to Walt on the King and Queen They served cookies to the court and did other errands for the King and Queen The calm was interrupted by a messenger Charles Barnaart who came to tell the King and Queen that more valentines must be sent out right away Since the supply of valentines was exhausted the cutter Marian Klont and the painter Connie Keeny set to work to make some more in a hurry This also set the poets Donna Clark and Janice Root to work mak ing verses to put on the valen tines Meanwhile three historians Eugene Curtiss Bob Jones ano Dick Parr each told a short story about the beginning of St Val entines Day They were compamed by a ukulele played by Jack Quantrell To keep the royal couple happy and attend to their every W1Sh were the Queen s Ladies in Walt ing Carla Powers Verdetta Ma hon Audrey Reed Carol Ann Whitney Sue Steinman and Mary Marlowe Because the court was very depressed each Lady in waiting intioduced an act hoping to entertain the King and Queen and raise everyone's spirits. Then followed a variety of talent A German band com posed of Jim Carr David Dyk house David Hefflebower Warren Phillips Gary Frace Ralph Leslie and Johnny Vance played a few marches accompan led by a little horseplay Some day these boys may be famous for their off notes Vlfglhla Moenlng pepped everyone up with a boogie piano solo which set many feet tapping 1n time with the rhythm To a light tune Jane Garcia did a very graceful Spanish dance which made other feet want to dance too Joan May played a pretty piano solo which helped to lighten the depression of the court Susie Moore made a very pretty plcture as she sang a solo dressed in a red and white val entme formal A boys quartet which was compos d of Bob Jones Bob Marple Elmer Jones and Dean Bruce also sang for the court This group may someday be a famous mens quartet A guitar trio also played for the King and Queen This eluded Joyce Kane Harold Goelz and Bernice Butler and added yet another type of enter tainment to the occasion Wilma Whitinger added her talent to the list and her tap dance was loved by everyone She looked very sparkling in a lred satin dress with white trim ming and apron All this entertainment cheered 'th King and Queen and the S' others in the court and the new valentines were sent out so everyone was happy and settled down to calmness until the next year This assembly was a credit to the freshman class but behind the scenes were the many people who helped make it so Only a few can be mentioned but lead mg were two advisers Mr Neil Brennan and Mr Jarvis Wotring who helped the general commit tee led by Llnda Smith and in cluding Joyce Hopkins David Dykhouse Ingrid Langmaack Jim Carr Gary Frace Mary Mar lowe Carolyn Earl and Ruth Catron Congratulations and good luck to the freshmen Shirley Wythe Stop that man he wanted to kiss me Cop- Thats all right Miss there ll be another along in a minute The height of revenge The henpecked husband who makes faces at his wife over the phone I call my girl grapefruit Why?
