Well that was exactly what Annre Marre Du nront drd Annre came to Anrerrca from France wrtn her mother They arrrved rn thrs country nr July 1947 They frrst nrade therr home rn Pottervrlle lnverythrng was new to her and not a brt lrke her own country She started last year rn the thrrd grade at the Pottervrlle school and had gradually work ed up through the erghth grade by the end or the school year Annre sard the hardest thrng to learn was the Englrsh language Last summer she and her mother came to make therr home rn Charlotte An rntervrew revealed many rnterestrng thrngs She sard that the schools rn France were very drfferent from the schools here Thr- grrls rn France are not allowed to attend the same school as the bovs They go to school frve days a week wrth Thursday and Sunday holrdays We are always cornplarnrng about the hours here but rf we had the anre hour they have rt would be another storv l France the classes run from erght thrrty rn the mornrng untrl eleven thrrty then they have lunch ln the att rnoon classes resunre at one thrrty and last untrl srx oclock The tu dents rn France go to school for rust une re son and that rs to work and learn They have no club actrvrtres school partres dances and nrovres as we have and to Annre thrs seems very strange We are proud and happy to have her rn our school and we hope she enrovs Amerrca and rts people Wrll They Ever F1nd3 Nrckel candy bars agarn?
