Bill Blain: Bill played guard and although he was not in the game all of the time he always worked hard and kept up the team's spirit. Charlie Dennis: Chuck started the season at right half back and later moved to end. He was one of the best tacklers on the squad at defen- sive half-back. Chuch missed the last two games because of an arm injury. Paul Foster: Paul played with the varsity for the past two years. Although Paul didn't play too much he never misses a football prac- tice. He played defen- sive end, and was a very hard tackler. Bruce Bergmann: Bruce played tackle for the Rayders. He played mostly defense, but he was always ready to step in and do his share. Kit Carson: Kit was one of the outstanding players on the Rayder team. He received second team all-confer- ence as a tackle, and also played other posi- tions well. He was elected co-captain of the Championship team. Joe Etienne: Joe played regular guard and was outstanding on offense and defense, he also was defensive signal caller. Joe was named to the all-conference first team, all-opponent second team, and honorable mention on all-northwestern and all- state team. Charles Pierce: Charles played tackle, mostly on defense. He played center most of the time, but was switched to tackle and end. Walt made second team all-confer- ence and honorable men- tion on all-opponent team, also first team all-north- western and first all- state. Jerry Stebe: Jerry was the smallest man on the team, but he did the work of a 200 pounder. He played center, and was an excellent down- field blocker. Guy Swanson: Guy played offense and de- fense half-back this year. He was one of the hardest hitting tacklers on the squad. Guy was named to the all-conference and all- opponent first teams, also received honorable mention on all-north- western and all-state teams. Clayton Walker: Clayton played full-back on offen- sive and line backer on defense. He was very outstanding on defense for those hard driving tackles. He was very fast and shifty, which made him a very fine broken field runner. Gary Smith: Gary played tackle this year and was a very fine blocker for the Red Rayders. He had a lot of natural ability and became a fine defen- sive tackle. Wayne Sundburg: Wayne played guard and did a fine job on defense and offense. He always worked hard and kept up the team's spirit. Garry Vandenberg: Bud played half-back and was known all over Mich- igan for his fine rimning, and defensive ability. He was elected co-captain of the Rayders and also co-captain of the all-op- ponent team. Garry was named to the first team in all-conference, all- opponent, all-northwest- ern and all-state. Quinton Walker: Quinn played quarter-back on offense and half-back on defense. His faking was outstanding in the Rayder backfield.
