UIIAMPIII The Charlevoix Red Rayders had a very good season, winning all six games and the Northern Michigan Class C Conference Title. The Rayders started out their victories by beating the East Jordan Red Devils, 13 -0. They continued the winning streak by beating Gaylord, 19-0, Harbor Springs, 37-6, and Pellston, 19-6. The big game of the season came next, with the Mancelona Ironmen, who, until the Rayders beat them 26-13, were tied with the Charlevoix team. The Rayders then went on to clinch the championship by beating the Boyne City Ramblers, 21-6. The Rayders scored 135 points while the oppos- ing teams scored only 31 points. The Rayders lost six players by graduation: Don Smith, Jerry Albright, Bill Bennett, Larry Burns, Gordon Mol, and Dave Glassford. Also lost, because of the 19-year-old age limit, were Bob Jolliffe and Joe McDermott. 24 IBACKETIHLL A x Ex L CHAMPIONS The Charlevoix Red Rayders won the Northern Michigan Class C basketball championship by twice defeating Boyne City, East Jordan, Mancelona, Pellston, and Gaylordg while splitting their two games with Harbor Springs.
