Miss Bush was our were Kin- dergarten teacher, and taught us to draw and to sing. We also discovered the charms of the fish pond and the doll house that year. In the FIRST GRADE we really settled down to work. Miss Belding introduced us to the mysteries of writing our own names and reading. We had to work even harder in the SECOND GRADE, but Miss Milner made it very pleasant for us. We had several parties that year, end also put on a play. In the THIRD GRADE, Mrs. Dick taught us our first arith- metic. We had many tumbles on the skating rink that year, but lt was fun! Miss Eggert was our teacher in the FOURTH GRADE, and Max Smith taught us to play the saxette. awe became quite adept at that. The FIFTH GRADE was suite a step forward as we were DOW upstairs. We put on a play, under the direction of Miss Ditt- mer. ' Miss Herrington was our teacher in the SIXTH GRADE, and we spent most of that year thinking about the next, when we would be in Junior High. The SEVENTH GRADE! At last we had reached Junior High, and had several teachers. We began to go to Pep Meetings, and really took an interest in the games. We spent most of the EIGHTH GRADE looking forward to high school. By then the newness of Junior High had worn off. At last we were in our FRESHMAN YEAR! John Eccleston, Pat Hamlin, Nick Hamilton, Cliff Lagerman, Ed Mann, Dick Falt- ing, Betty Evers, and Dolores Winnick joined us that year took us quite a while to get our schedules straightened but we finally did. ' . It out, In our SOPHOMORE YEAR the growing class was enlarged by Beryl Frank, Dona Sternberg Dorothy Young, Jim Gibbons, and Ray Williams. We began in earnest to make plans for raising money for our Senior Trip. ' In our JUNIOR YEAR the purchase of class rings and the J- Hop were outstanding. Al Bergmann, Dave Smith, Gladys Coney, Margaret Roussin, and Bob Clarke joined us that year. At last our SENIOR YEAR has arrived. We've spent most of our time in making money for our trip, a cruise on the Great Lakes. Our play, nMurder Mansion,' vas a grand success. Pat McKinney and Dawson Way joined our class this year. A speech class, taught by Mrs. Richards, was offered, and quite a few of us took advantage of lt. We've held great pride in our football and basketball teams. We chose for our class colors, cardinal and silvery our flower, the red roseg and our motto, 'Selzing Ever, Ceasing Never.' Je' y I V J CD , ! y,.S-:Q ng Ur Z ra' Z'l 1. . 1 41, an . J 4 ' 1 - 5. Vet- erans from last years varsity and reserve souads were quickly mol- ded into a top-flight 'eleven'. Three juniors and two seniors were chosen on the All-Conference team, proof of the prowess of the Ray- der team, and of next years too. Warren Shadko, Dick Jolliffe, and Pat Martin were the Juniors selected, while Bob and Bill Carey were the last year men who were chosen. Completing the seven game schedule with but 18 points scored against them, the Rayders stretched their string of consecutive vic- tories to 20, over a three year period. BASKETBALL With four of last years starting team returned, the Rayders visioned a possible State Championship from the outset of the 'h7- 'U8 season, and oh! How close they came! Conouering anything the north offered in her class, Charlevoix played into the semi-finals of the State Meet, and found themselves pitched against Milan. M1- lan courageously skinned out a 36-3U overtime win, and then over- powered SS. Peter and Paul of Saginaw, last years champs, for the trophy. Thus the prolonged season ended abruptly, concluding the hopes and desires of the north, as a whole. Four Rayder cagers topped the century mark in the 22 games completed. Bob Carey, playing pivot, led his teammates for the third campaigning in succession by scoring 36D points. Bill Carey, Ross Case and Pat Martin respectively scored 167, 158, and l2b points. These four Rayders were All-Conference first team choices, ample evidence to prove the regard the Charlevoix nquintetn was given by opposing coaches, Co-captain Cliff Lagerman was a defen- sive artist and also scored 91 points, on top of a delayed starting assignment. ...ww .4 3... , af 1.-In ..- --..----. 1 .
