Business Department Cu rol Briganee Scott Du ugherty ,h. We believe that the first duty of our department is to offer vocational training to students who, when graduating from high school, will need to go to work to support or help support themselves. Our students should be well enough trained, after taking all the courses offered by this department, to obtain a job as a typist, secretary, stenographer, or a general of ice worker without any further training. We believe all students should have a basic knowledge of business, and the college bound one should certainly have this. We believe that each student in a skill training course like business should be al- lowed to advance at his own rate of speed. This will permit him to excel as high as his aptitude will permit. It is our desire that each student learn how this democratic heritage was devel- oped, fought for, preserved, and the measures taken today to fit our heritage of freedom into the everyday living theme of all the countries of the world. It is the hope of the Social Stud- ies Committee that the graduating seniors will have gained an in- sight into the social, political, and economic realities around them and will have acquired the capac- ity to deal with those realities objectively and competently.
