Play ---------------- CLASS HISTORY Cast ------------------ CLASS of '58 Producers ----------------- PARENTS Directors ---------------- TEACHERS and PRINCIPALS Sound Effects --------------- STUDENTS and SPONSORS Setting ---------------- CHARLESTOWN HIGH SCHOOL Act 1 FRESHMAN YEAR The curtain rose on the glorious day of September 5,' 1954. As ninety -eight Freshmen rushed through the halls, there was mass confusion throughout the school. They settled down, at last, to choose officers for the year ahead: President, Ray Lewis; Vice President, Sonny Shouse; Secretary-Treasurer, Ralph Nickel. They chose as their sponsor, Mr. Jack Smith. The class outing was held at Henryville Forestry in May 1955. The class activities included a skating party for the entire high school. Act II SOPHOMORE YEAR The curtain rose with ninety-two sophomores in the act. They had lost a few students and gained a few, but they were still eager to climb the ladder to success. They elected officers: President, Jim Bourne; Vice President, Ray Lewis; Secretary-Treas- urer, Carol Taylor. Mr. Voglesong and Mrs. Myers were sentenced to be their sponsors. They had a glorious outing at Spring Mill State Park. The class sponsored a Christmas Dance that year. Act 111 JUNIOR YEAR The curtain rose more slowly, with only eighty-eight actors returning. This proved to be their busiest year, so far. They elected the following officers: President, Jim Bourne; Vice Pres- ident, Ray Lewis; Reporter, Ralph Nickel; Treasurer, Glenda Robb; Secretary, Carolyn Spencer; Sergeants-at-Arms, Donald Johnson and Jeffery Simpson. Woe unto Mrs. McNaughton and Mr. Gibson, who were chosen as their sponsors. They presented a Thortan Wilder production. Our Town, as their class play. They traveled to Indianapolis to see the State Legislature in session. The class sponsored the Junior and Senior banquet, and the Prom, which had the theme of Summer Time Dowu South. Am W SENIOR YEAR As the curtain rose on the final act, there were seventy -two of them remaining. For the last time they elected class officers, who were: President, Rose Ann Schafer; Vice President, DaVld Curtis: Secretary, Rachel Whitney; Treasurer, Ralph Nickel. Their Devoted sponsors were Mrs. Minns and Mr. Silver. Time Out for Ginger was the class play. Selling concessions, decals, fruit cakes, Christmas trees, mistletoe, and washing cars were 1118!: a few of the schemes they used tor raising money for a six day trip to Washington.D. C.

I Carolyn Roberts, will my ability to attend class regularly to Ruth Ann DeVary. Rose Ann Schafer, will my ability to talk teachers out of assignments to Pat Hoessle, since he is such an amateur. I, Jackie Scholl, will my ability to get along with girls and my assigned name, Don Juan, to Larry Greathouse. I, Russel Scholl, will my ability to drive to school to Bobby McDaniels. I, Jeffrey Simpson, will my physique to David Payne, provided he keeps in good shape at all times. I, C arolyn Spencer, will my ability to loaf all through high school to Norman's baby brother, Ish Lilly, since he has such a good start anyhow. Roger Steele, will my ability to peroxide my hair to Donald Bettler. Carol Taylor, will my ability to remain serious in chemistry class to Comic Tyler, provided she uses it next year in physics. Ray Thomas, will my position on the track team to Billy Brewer. Earl Trimble, will my ability to cheer at basketball games to next year's cheerleaders. Sonja Tungate,will my shorthand book to any Junior who wants it. Judy Turner, will my ability to play the clarinet to my sister, Connie, should she tire of being a majorette. Richard Turner, will my brains and excellent physique to my brother, Buddy. I, Phyllis VanOver, will my ability to car-hop for a bunch of high school kids after a ball game to my sister, Sandra. I, Jenny Webb, will my ability to let my hair grow to Sandra Broady. I Rachel Whitney, will my ability to make banana splits without bananas, to anybody who thinks he can get by with it. Ester Lee Wilson, will my flirting ability to the 4 nuts, Joey, Phyllis, Nancy, and Sandra, providing they have as much fun doing it as I have. Janice Wirth, will my ability to lose my voice after every ball game to Sharon Smithers and Charlotte Doyle, since they already have a head start. Joyce Wirth, will my ability to strive for perfect attendance to any underclassman who wants to go insane. , Loren Zollman, am not going to will anyone anything, since I need everything I've got.
