With zeal and interest our Annual Staff attacked the problems in- volved in producing a Yearbook. Pirates Log exemplifies the re- sults of their many hours of service to their school. We are grateful to all those who in some measure contributed in compiling this condensed record of the school year. We hope that un- derclassmen might receive inspiration to assume similar responsibility in the years ahead. Best Wishes, gzwwf Glenn A. As ninety -eight Freshmen rushed through the halls, there was mass confusion throughout the school. They settled down, at last, to choose officers for the year ahead: President, Ray Lewis; Vice President, Sonny Shouse; Secretary-Treasurer, Ralph Nickel. They chose as their sponsor, Mr. Jack Smith. The class outing was held at Henryville Forestry in May 1955. The class activities included a skating party for the entire high school. Act II SOPHOMORE YEAR The curtain rose with ninety-two sophomores in the act. They had lost a few students and gained a few, but they were still eager to climb the ladder to success. They elected officers: President, Jim Bourne; Vice President, Ray Lewis; Secretary-Treas- urer, Carol Taylor. Mr. Voglesong and Mrs. Myers were sentenced to be their sponsors. They had a glorious outing at Spring Mill State Park. The class sponsored a Christmas Dance that year. Act 111 JUNIOR YEAR The curtain rose more slowly, with only eighty-eight actors returning. This proved to be their busiest year, so far. They elected the following officers: President, Jim Bourne; Vice Pres- ident, Ray Lewis; Reporter, Ralph Nickel; Treasurer, Glenda Robb; Secretary, Carolyn Spencer; Sergeants-at-Arms, Donald Johnson and Jeffery Simpson. Woe unto Mrs. McNaughton and Mr. Gibson, who were chosen as their sponsors. They presented a Thortan Wilder production. Our Town, as their class play. They traveled to Indianapolis to see the State Legislature in session. The class sponsored the Junior and Senior banquet, and the Prom, which had the theme of Summer Time Dowu South. Am W SENIOR YEAR As the curtain rose on the final act, there were seventy -two of them remaining. For the last time they elected class officers, who were: President, Rose Ann Schafer; Vice President, DaVld Curtis: Secretary, Rachel Whitney; Treasurer, Ralph Nickel. Their Devoted sponsors were Mrs. Minns and Mr. Silver. Time Out for Ginger was the class play. Selling concessions, decals, fruit cakes, Christmas trees, mistletoe, and washing cars were 1118!: a few of the schemes they used tor raising money for a six day trip to Washington.D. C.
