April 11 8 12, 1957 In the month of September, 1953, one hundred and twenty -two little demons entered as the first freshman class to attend the tNew Charlestown High SchooD. After we succeeded in settling the teachers down. we proceeded to elect class officers. They were Johnny Graham. President; Sharon Eadens, Vice -President; and Harold Gibbs. Secretary-Treasurer. We chose Mr. Ray Henegar as our unfortunate sponsor. Our class outing was held at Henryville Forestry. SILLY 80PHOMORES Only ninety-three returned for our sophomore year. We had lost a few. but we gained some new students. Now we were ready to continue our devilment. Again we chose our loyal Johnny Graham as president. The Vice-President was Garner Willey, and Helen Standifer was Secretary-Tteasurer. Alas! Poor Mr. Ray Henegar again had the job as our patient sponsor. This year we decided to go to Spring Mill Park on out outing. When our junior year rolled around the class enrollment had dropped to eighty-nine. We elected the following class officers: President. Jimmy James; Vice -President, Gervas Schafer; and Secretary -Treasurer. Mary Bush. This year we had to have two sponsors, Mrs. Mabel Swain and Mr. John Wood. to handle us. We were a very busy class during this year. We gave a play festival which consisted of A Sunny Morning , Minor Miracel . and The Man in the Bowler Hat. We had a very enjoyable time giving a banquet and prom. which had the theme Dreamland. K's I IGNIFIED SENIORS Well, there we were. Great big and maybe not so mean as before seniors! Even though we didn't have all of the students that we began with in our freshman year, we were honored to have the largest senior class to ever attend Charlestown High School. There were eighty-six of us. Our senior class officers were; Denny Lutz, President; Pat Mulhall, Vice-President; Ruby Morrison. Secretary; and Bill Lane. Treasurer. Mrs. Robert Myers and Mr. Harold Reis were bur sponsors. For our class play we presented The Robe. On May 15 we boarded a train for our senior trip to New York City. There was a one-day stop at Washington, D.C. After five fun-filled days. we returned, weary but happy. Forgive us if we stop to shed a tear as we leave our Alma Mater. it has been four glorious years. We cannot thank Mr. Glen Robb, Mr. Glenn Ross, and the faculty enough for making it all possible.
