PHILOSOPHY OF 2 CHARLESTON HIGH scnooi ,-- L ...gnu- 114:-1 Charleston High School exists solely for the benefit of the students. The faculty gives the following as the statement of beliefs for this school's existence. We believe that each student should be given the opportunity and incentive to develop spiritually. It is the obligation of the school to be instrumental in instilling principles of Christianity which will cause the student to love, honor, and worship God and to live daily the principle of the Golden Rule. We believe that each student should be taught the advan- tages of good health and methods of improving and maintaining good health through a physical education program and a school health program in co-operation with the public health service. We believe that all students need to grow in their ability to think rationally, to express their thoughts clearly, to read and listen with understanding. We believe that each student should have an opportunity to develop vocational efficiency in attitudes, skills, and under- standings that tend to make a worker an intelligent and productive participant in the social and economic order. Further, each student should be guided into gaining emotinal stability. We believe that all students need to understand the rights and duties of citizens in a democracy. We believe every student should learn to appreciate beauty in literature, art, music, and nature. We believe that each student should develop a feeling of respect for other people and consideration of another's view point. Each should learn to live and work co-operatively with others. Each should do his best to win, or excell--but win or lose each should always exemplify a high standard of sportsmanship. A! if mi ,....i- -'limi Z X
