At halftime the escorts, Cole, Newton, Knight, and Pollan, were really proud of their lovely queen and maids. The boys really deserve credit for playing such a good game after such a wonderful halftime distraction. Oct. 5. Winona overdid it by working us over 33-O. We had a nice trip! Oct. 12. Ackerman powerhouse of Choctow conference came over and lost to us 21-14. Oct. 19. Undefeated Drew D. V. C. leaders came over and remained undefeated with score of 33-14. We scared them when Newton broke lose twice for long runs, one for 68 yards. Oct. 26. We went to Eupora where Coach Gunn alumnus was coach. In the last two minutes we tied 7-7. Robert Gill Lilly ran 45 yards to set up score, Panny passed to Mahlon 30 yards to counter. Nov. 4. Coach Mihalic was out ot town because of illness in his family. Coaches Varnado a.nd Musslewhite took us boys to Sardis. We boys played our best game of the season and won 27-0. Touchdowns made were Tucker one, Newton one, Taylor two. Panny converted three times. Nov. 16. Bruce powerhouse rolled in town to avenge previous loss. After wading around in a cloud burst we lost 20-6. Leon scored our touchdown. Nov. 21. We went to Grenada and were defeated 13-7. Cole scored on a 35 yard pass from Panny. Our season ended with five wins, five losses, and one tie. We did our best, but played a rough schedule. Once again we say Wait 'Til NextYear. Nov. 26. Basketball practice started with seven lettermen reporting to Coach Varnado and eight lettermen to Coach Gorton. Dec. 6. Our girls defeated West Tallahatchie 29-28, our boys won 39-28. Dec. 11. Sardis won out in the last second over our boys 36-35. Our girls won 30-17. Dec. 13. We got some revenge for our football boys by beating Grenada 42-31. Our squaws won 48-22. Jan. 3. At Sardis we realized what an enjoyable vacation without practice can do. Our boys lost 46-42, our girls, 16-13. Jan. 7. We took Oakland girls 42-13. Our boys won 60-38. Jan. 9. It looks as if the best in the county came together for the first time. Our girls won 25-17. Our boys lost to Cascilla 34-32. Jan. 15. It looks as if you can carry a good neighbor policy too far. Scores were Water Valley boys 46-Warriors 41g Water Valley girls 20-Warriorettes 18. Jan 18. At West Tallahatchie Warriorettes won 40-323 Warriors won 43-29. Jan 20. Leon Newt on Made All Delta Valley Conference Halfback. Robert Cole Made Honorable Mention at End. Jan. 24. Cascilla girls defeated us 30-20, boys, 37-25. Jan. 26. We had an ideal Football Banquet with plenty to eat, no speeches, and lots of good-looking boys and gals around. X Jan. 27. In our won gym our girls defeated Water Valley 28-19g our boys lost 56-35. Feb. 1. At Grenada our girls won 42-20, boys, 56-42. Feb. 8-9. Everybody had a good time in Yazoo City at Delta Valley Conference tournament. We spent the night in private homes and got swell treatment from the folks down there. Lilly and Cossar were warned by the Police Department. Scores were Batesville boys 54-Charleston 34g Cleveland girls 37-Charleston 20. Our opponents didn't manage to show us the hospitality that the citizens of the city did!! Feb. 18. After a vacation our girls won over Cascilla 35-30. Boys lost in a good game 39-36. Feb. 22. We are going to Bruce for the District II Tournament. We are sorry that meeting our deadline for annual prevents our writing up the results. 56
