' . , . me WW Jlomzco ' The 1949 C H S Homecoming festivities were initiated at 400 p m on the evening of Thu1sda5 Octobei 27 bx the annual bonfire and pep meeting Groups of boys with trucks and cars collected inflammable materials for the flle throughout most of the daw and the thrill of the towering At 1100 a m on Fridax v1s1t1ng homecoming alumni were welcomed by means of a pro gram presented in the high school auditorium Don Coartney served as master of ceremonies and M1 Ogden Brainaid prominent Chaileston attorney and member of the class of 1922 was the p11DClp31 speake1 Othe1s who shared in the progiam were Jeiry Scribner and Vic Bell fO1 mer student council piesident and star athlete respectively A p1ctu1esque homecoming parade the first in a number of vears had been planned for the afternoon but a steady downpour of rain prevented its being piesented However most of the floats were kent intact and added to the gigantic American Education Week parade held a few weeks late1 Dampened spirits were iejuvenated in the evening when C H S defeated Paris in a thrilling football game bv a score of 7 to 0 and a large crowd was mesent fOl the climax of the homecoming actix ities a dance featuring the crowning of the homecoming queen Donna Moigan C H S senior was crowned queen in a coloiful ceiemom she was escorted bw Jack Cum FIFTY FOUR it 5 Qi y,.,t .1 1-' i- H1 flames intensified the enthusiasm and magnified the cheering of all participating in the celebration.
