TO THE CLASS OF 1954, GREETINGS! I It it with deep personal feeling that I extend to each of you, on behalf ef the? entire faculty, my sincere congratulations on the successful completion of your high! school careers. The architect creates his designs and draws the plans which the engineer wil use to build a structure. The groundwork of your educational structure has been designed and planned for you almost entirely by adults. Now you must plan for yourself. How well we have done with that groundwork will be determined by the nature of structure which you will be called upon to complete. If you have mastered the fundamentals necessary for a livelihood and acquired the technique of meeting your fa!low-associates on the same level; if you have learned to give a day's work for a day's pay and to spend your leisure time wisely; if you have learned to look through rose-colored glasses more often than through cloudy lenses, and that happiness means more than financial security; if you have the fortitude to meet the challenge of dictatorial forces by using the precipts of the Master Teacher, the structure which you will complete will be sound. May the Great Architect of the Universe be with you and guide you as you dream of your great tomorrows. THEODORE R. DURGEE High School Principal
