At this time when work, with high pay, can he obtained, when the future of hoth hoys and girls ap- proaching the age of eighteen is uncertain, it seems useless to make educational plans for the future. This question can he quickly answered: Your country needs you. It needs you as an educated citizen of the future years. Education is one of the huiwarks on which democracy must he built. Our ordinary needs for food, clothing, shelter, and medical attention once achieved, education is the cornerstone upon which we must Iouiid Iiherty which is not license and a democracy which truiy belongs to the people. Therefore, today, it is the duty of those completing their high school work, and of those who remain in high school to use every effort to so train their minds and bodies that they win he ready to make this country one in which they can live and enjoy the liberties which have been bequeathed to them, and to which those who have gone into the front lines may return and find ready for them a country of which they need not he ashamed.
