Miss Seal informs her friends that matrimony is now on its way. 0 ANDERS VAMPS AGAIN Miss Mildred Anders, the well-known vamp of C.H.S. during her school ca- reer, seems to have accomplished a great deal by it. She is in Hollywood now and there are rumors that she is trying to vamp Mickey Rooney. .T..-.TO. t- STARS IN MOVIE The most sensational movie produc- tion in the history of histories was re- leased yesterday from Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios. The title, l'Dr. VVetzel Is Going to Town. The star is Dr. Charles Chiplev Viletzel. the craziest quack since the world began. Also, un- usual as it may seem, he is in reality a surgeon. MANUEL MAKES NEW BOOK- KEEPING PRACTICE SET Mr. Frank Manuel has just published a new, improved practice set for book- keeping students in high schools. It is called the HI. F. Manuel Practice Set. The commander was in- sulted once too often and left his postg so John stepped in and took his place. llol, WALTERS-WATSON Miss Esther VValters, employee at the five and ten cent store, has resigned her job to become the wife of Douglas VVatson. T..OTi MISSIONARY TO MARRY Miss Anna Mae Spinks, missionary from China, has announced her engage- ment to the famous Chinese detective. Charlie Chan, They plan to make their home in China, where Miss Spinks has done wonderful work teaching them to use knives instead of chopsticks. 1 AVIATOR BREAKS RECORD Flash! She is believed to have been the victim of the well-known Count MeOut, just recently jilted at the altar by Miss Kite. It looks as though Kite, as she was known by her, friends, jilted once too often and the jilted lost his temper. --.l.0L.i GOODELL-STRIDER Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Goodell announce the marriage of their daughter, Alice, to Mr. Jack Strider of Shepherdstown. Be- fore her marriage, Mrs. Strider was Home Demonstration Agent of Jeffer- son County. . 0.?... BATES MAKES GOOD' Mr. VVilliam Bates, graduate of C. H. S., today was chosen president of Amal- gamated Cider Products, Inc. Mr. Bates was the fortunate winner of a proposi- tion offered by that firm. It seems that Mr. Bates sold more cider than any of the other employees and secured the job. The employees think that Bates bought up the cider and stored it away for fur- ther use. l...0 i COUNT KILLS SELF Count U, R. A. Nutt was found dead in his apartment this morning. He was the tenth husband of Miss Louise Brown of Charles Town. On hearing the news, Countess Nutt said vexedly, Oh, dear, and black isn't a bit in style this year. .1..0.?... GENERAL GRANTHAM - DISMISSED The President today announced the removal of Gen. James A. Grantham from the head of the United States Army for undisclosed reasons. But it is said by those close to the White House that the dismissal was because of the General's failure to attend to his work. He says that he will make the motion picture business reach a new high. He became interested in picture taking when he was in high school, where he was given the name of Photo- Finish Furrf' 0..?-- ORCHESTRA LEADER TO MAKE MOVIE VVill Anderson, America's top orches- tra leader, signed a long term contract with Paramount studio today. A spokes- man for Paramount announced that the movie will feature Anderson, and his drums, with his pretty vocalist, Miss Hilda Jones. Anderson, who is known to close friends as Loyall, stated that he and Miss Jones will be married after the completion of the picture. ' . STRIDER ELECTED MAYOR Miss Alice Strider has Finally achieved her life-long ambition-the mayorship of Leetown. Miss Strider had the crush- ing majority of ten votes over her op- ponent, Miss llorothy Moreland. In a recent interview, Miss Strider said, I hope to make Leetown a thing of beauty. The bride was clad in a red bridal gown and red veil and carried red American Beauty roses. The groom was handsomely attired in a bright green serge suit. The entire color scheme was red and green. PLANNED Mr. Newton Magaha, Charles Town's leading groeeryman, is planning to build a fleet of grocery stores to cover the United States. T-....0..i ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT The Honorable Jesse Alger was re- ported assassinated after he was found unconscious in his bed this morning. The incident occurred when Mr. Presi- dent found that he had gotten in the wrong stateroom and kissed the wrong woman. FAMOUS EXPLORER RETURNS Mr. Clark Allen, world famed ex- plorer, returned last night from his first trip to Mars. The first successful flight ever to be made was attempted in a super rocket ship designed by Mr. Allen. The ship was powered by a special po- tent fluid developed by the inventor.
