my Ublfccw ..-44 i'3f3.,, :jg Q 455 LIU' 'fi . K 3, fl 5 - The USS CHARLES S. SPERRY KDD 691, er Cary Hardison Hall. He assumed command of the ag'USl'. 1954, at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The SPERRY is Commander Hall's second destroyer command in the Atlantic Fleet. Prior to assuming command of the SPERRY he was attached to the Bureau of Ordnance in Washington, D C Commander Hall graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in l940. Prior to attending the Naval Academy he attended Mercer College in Macon, Georgia. While at the Naval Academy he was editor of the U. S. Naval Academy Log. c Upon leaving the Naval Academy Commander Hall was ordered to the USS CALIFORNIA KBB 443 on which he served during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was transferred then to the USS COLUMBIA lCL 56l where he saw action in nine Pacific campaigns. After World War Il he comp- leted one year of postgraduate work at the Naval Academy and two years at Cornell University. After serving aboard the USS PASAD-ENA ICL 657 as gunnery officer for a year, he reported aboard the USS F. T. BERRY lDDE 8583 as Executive ?fflCel', Oh which he saw action during the early part o-f the Korean conflict. n 1951 Commander Hall was ordered to the Naval Shipyard at Charleston, 50051 CUTPIIDC, to recommission the USS COTTEN CDD 6697 and serve as Commanding Officer. 2000 glmgaunder and Mrs. .Hall'with their two boys and baby girl reside at NYG, NOI'f0lk, Virginia.
