Wilson named governor” Geof Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson and a Milby High School Senior, was elected “governor” at the annual Boys’ State convention held in Austin this year on the University of Texas campus. The Boys and Girls State convention is held yearly to help students learn about the democratic electoral processes from the municipal to state level with actual participa- tion. Delegates from the high school in every community in Texas at- tend. Expenses of Milby students attending were paid by the school with the help of the American Legion Chapter. Wilson, interested in a political career, decided to run for an office at the convention and to run for the top office because of the honor of the office. This is where the work began. The task had to be accomplished over- night, which meant a sleepless night for Wilson and his staff. While they did not agree on every point, there were areas of definite mutual agreement. Later both Wilson and Governor White ad- dressed the convention in its final assembly in the state capitol. Wilson’s future plans include the study of lav» at the University o Houston plus a politica career. Texas A M was a good place to get to the top in Yearbook preparations. The FCA Conference in Colorado was well attended by Milby students.
