Mr. Roscoe Bayless? Do You Know Dear Buffaloes, An old man bought some apples that he found exceedingly pleasing. He found them so good that he asked his son to plant for him a tree of that variety. His son refused to plant the tree, because it would take it too long to bear fruit. His grandson refused to plant the tree for the same reason. But the old man refused to give up his dream of a fruit tree in his own yard, and he planted his own tree. He also lived to enjoy the fruit from the tree. Some persons (young and old) think that educa- tion will take too long to bear fruit, and because of this idea do not ever plant the seeds of knowl- edge, understanding, perception of truth, or self- discipline. They do not cultivate mental, physical, or moral development. Age is not a reason for failing to spend one's time and efforts to learn, and to train, and to discipline one's self—so that the fruit of education may be sweet for the remaining years of life. In life it is important that everyone acquire a well rounded education. An important part of a well rounded education is learning to give and to take. One of the greatest assets in life is the ability to get along with one's fellowmen. This is the reason that many famous athletes become leaders; they have be- come disciplined, much of it self discipline, to the extent that they can give and take.
