Us an the path Mr. George E. McWhirter Counselor Mrs. Janice Patterson Counselor Dedicated to the success and accomplish- ment of their students, the counselors strive to build a firm foundation for the future. Time and energy are generously given to pre- pare students with the necessary program to meet the demands of developing their minds and spirits. Thoughtful advice and patient understand- ing provide the atmosphere of devoted con- cern for the well being and success of Milby students. This concern has been exhibited in the counseling efforts that encourage stu- dents to remain in school and complete their education as well as helping the students who seek advice on preparing themselves for college and future vocations. To Mrs. Price, Mrs. Patterson, and Mr. Mc- Whirter we extend our thanks for the time they have so generously devoted to the stu- dents of Milby High School. 13 Mrs. Gladys M. Price Counselor

@hqj TEmti Might Being an assistant principal in a large school is probably the most all-encompassing job in the educational system. An assistant principal has to do a variety of things and do them well. Milby's own Mr. Henry Clay Smith is a fine example of all that a good assistant principal should be. Mr. Smith first came to Milby in 1941. In 1960 he became assistant principal when Mr. Bayless became principal. Mr. Smith is usually the one to handle discipline problems. However, he feels that his main responsibility is prevention rather than punishment. He is also concerned with guidance and helping the student in his care. Mr. Henry C. Smith Ass't. Principal Meeting the requests of countless students, providing counseling and discipline for those in need, and greeting a myriad of personal- ities with first-name cordiality are only a few of the services performed by Mrs. Dona Wil- liamson in her office of dean. In this, her third year at Milby, Mrs. Williamson has be- come, to the many students she confronts daily, as much a part of the school as the pillars which support the front portico. The many varied official duties she performs do not, however, hinder her in her personal in- terest in student personalities and extra-cur- ricular activities. Diversity and dedication— these two qualities—characterize Mrs. Dona Williamson, dean. 12 Mrs. Dona H. Williamson Dean

Through their proficient handling of the ever- increasing network of files, records, and finances, a competent functioning unit is maintained. Same old faces everyday. Mrs. Evelyn R.
