@hqj TEmti Might Being an assistant principal in a large school is probably the most all-encompassing job in the educational system. An assistant principal has to do a variety of things and do them well. Milby's own Mr. Henry Clay Smith is a fine example of all that a good assistant principal should be. Mr. Smith first came to Milby in 1941. In 1960 he became assistant principal when Mr. Bayless became principal. Mr. Smith is usually the one to handle discipline problems. However, he feels that his main responsibility is prevention rather than punishment. He is also concerned with guidance and helping the student in his care. Mr. Henry C. Smith Ass't. Principal Meeting the requests of countless students, providing counseling and discipline for those in need, and greeting a myriad of personal- ities with first-name cordiality are only a few of the services performed by Mrs. Dona Wil- liamson in her office of dean. In this, her third year at Milby, Mrs. Williamson has be- come, to the many students she confronts daily, as much a part of the school as the pillars which support the front portico. The many varied official duties she performs do not, however, hinder her in her personal in- terest in student personalities and extra-cur- ricular activities. Diversity and dedication— these two qualities—characterize Mrs. Dona Williamson, dean. 12 Mrs. Dona H. Williamson Dean

3in Memoriam Schoenie AI. A. P. Mr. Shone 7 Mr. Schoenfield. To each greeting, a friendly Howdy. A portly man. A bit concerned over a physical con- dition that didn't improve. Yes, a bit of a worrier. A man with many things in the past to be proud of—All-Conference end at Rice, a fine family, many friends. And with seme things to remember that would leave a less tolerant person bitter indeed. But above all, a man with faith in his kids , many of them give-ups by sterner, less bending teach- ers. What of these kids ? Many, in fact most, justify- ing Schoenie's faith by growing up to, or into, an adult world. And for those still short of making it , Al's Someday, wait and see. To quote a great poet, writing about a great man, We were learning while we laughed. Your last Howdy , Mr. Alvin P. Schoenfield, an- swered with a final Well done and Farewell. MR. ALVIN P. SCHOENFIELD An able teacher, a valued friend.
