FOREWORD JO ALLECE BRANCH and HARLEY WEBB represented Milby in the Houston Rotary Club contest for sending two high school students as emissaries to Latin-America in June, 1941 We, the staff of the 1941 BUFFALO, have tried to bring to Milby students some of the highlights of this school year and at the same time to record our ideas of the extreme importance of friendship between ourselves and our Latin-American neighbors. With this feeling dominating our national life, we have chosen Pan-Americanism as our theme. We sincerely hope this book will recall in years to come the joys and woes of our high school days and meanwhile be of some aid in cementing democratic unity in the Western Hemisphere.

Today we realize more than ever what a privilege it is to live under the torch of Liberty. The United States of America has kept this torch burn- ing brightly by establishing public schools and colleges for the education of all. The National Government helps the poor to become educated by provid- ing part-time jobs in order for them to complete their education. Education is the foundation of Democracy; our privilege it is to strive for a 100 per cent enlightened nation. .- ADMINISTRATION
