Quill and Scroll Establishes Record When 17 new members are initi- nted into the Bluebonnet Chapter of the Quill and Scroll, March 23, the chapter will have a record mem- bership. The present 11 members will make the total 28. Those ti fce initiated soon are Maori no Hargis, Patricia Boyle, Bry- Laughton Re-ads Hunchback Bv Dorothy Hallmark and l aura Outteraide FOOTBALL September 23—The Buffs journeyed to Dallas where they held off the heavily favored Dallas Tech boys while Cleve Reber had a field day in the backfield. But the law of averages caught up with us, and Dallas took us 6-0. September 29—At Livingston our star linesman came to light, meaning Mike Jones. The Buffs kept the always powerful Lions running. Jones, Weaver, and Crume knocked off their runners while Reber and Ruthstrom piled up yardage. However, they didn't pile up enough, and we got licked 13-0. October 6—The Goose Creek Ganders were a snap. Reber was plenty hot; he galloped 67 yards for one touchdown and passed 52 yards for an- other. Ruthstrom smashed their line to bits for his tally while Jones and Julian Phillips made a couple of their passes go the wrong way for the other scores. MILBY 31, GOOSE CREEK 6. October I —The Goose Creek victory didn't scare the San Jacinto Bears though, and they sicced Bob Jackson on us. Even though Jones, Weaver, and Palmer did their best to stop him and Manuel Blum, the Bears walloped us 33-0. October 20—It was a stormy day when the Con- roe Tigers came to town, and It was a stormy game the two teams played. Reber, Ruthstrom, Duren, and Brune kept the Tiger tacklers worried. But a break turned against us and the Tigers won 6-0. October 26—The Buffs stampeded to stomp Jeff Davis 9-0. The big factors in the game were Joe McQuillan, Cleve Reber, and Ernest Palmer. Joe kicked a field goal, and Reber tossed a touchdown pass to Palmer for the score. November 2—The Austin Mustangs got a big surprise this night, by gum. Though they beat us 14-0, we ran them wild until the late quarters. In the last quarter Ralph Ruthstrom threw passes 60 and 70 yard with ease. November I I—Sam Houston sneaked up on us on a break. We lead them 3-0 all the way until, in the last minutes, a punt was blocked and run over for a touchdown. Jones and Weaver were the big noises in the line, while Reber and McQuillan showed up in the backfield. November 18—Remember this game? The Buffs led the Reagan Bulldogs all the way 7-6! Reber tossed a pass for the Milby score, and it looked like we had it tucked away. Lincoln Roman finally broke away and made it 13-7. Again Jones, Ruth- strom and Weaver were outstanding. November 25—The Lamar Redskins ended our season by scalping us 13-0. Though Jones, Phillips, Crume, Wallin, and Weaver did all they could on defense and Reber and Ruthstrom worked hard, Lamar was a little too classy. When you apply for a job you will be asked: What can you do? If you can type, if you can write- shorthand, if you can keep books, you will get the job. But if your preparation is limited to the general education of the high school and the university, you still need some- thing more that you can trade for a semi- monthly salary check. This is a business world. You will not fit into it until you have had business training. It is, therefore, important to you that you learn now what you are sure to need when you seek a job; not just any job, but a position that will lead to something in keeping with the time and effort you have invested in your education. The quickest, surest and least expensive way to such a position is through a course in Massey Business College. Massey guarantees satisfaction or your money refunded. V. G.
