0EDl6A 7l0N We have lost the head of our great national family. John Fitzgerald Kennedy thirty-fifth President of the United States of America, is dead. He was killed by an assassin's bullet on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, while on a speaking tour. Not only our own nation but also the entire world mourns his death. Just what our nation has lost in terms of leadership, power, and prestige will have to be determined by future historians. But the immediate loss is great--great in the debth of human, personal sorrow each of us feels. Perhaps no other President in our history had the love and the affection of the people that President Kennedy had. All over the nation the flags at half- mast and the somber faces of the people attest to this devotion. President Kennedy was a natural born leader. He had the type of personal- ity that made him admired and liked by all. Because of his youth and vigor, he appealed to young people. He inspired them to set high goals and to work with courage to attain those goals. It is, then, with a deep sense of sincere gratitude and affection for a truly great man that we dedicate the 1963-64 BANTAM to the memory of President John F. Kennedy.
