Not only a powerful runner and hlocker but a star in his last year on the varsity and an inspiration to the teain at all times, Gene Pontius - junior - halfback 4 Gene saw plenty of action in his second year on the varsity. The Bears got an early start when they drove 60 yards for their first touchdown in the first quarter. The Bantams fought hard but Moscow played the breaks and ended up ahead 13 to O. Oct. 12-Our next tilt was played at Adams Field. lt was the first home game of the season. The Mac-Hi Pioneers were defeated for the first time in a number of years. lim Costello led the boys in a smart bit of ball handling to beat the Oregon eleven l2 to 6. Oct. 19-On October l9 the Bantams made their last out of town jaunt to Central Valley at Spokane. On a rain soaked field the boys played the Bears to a 6 to 6 draw. Gene Pontius led the Bantams on offense and defense and also scored our lone touchdown. Oct. 26vOn our own field, the boys met a strong Blue Devil eleven led on by a shifty back, lay Childers, and the team tied O to O. Yount - iunior - forward-Another of these tall fellows who played a swell game in his first varsity ball, and will be sure-fire stuff next season. Swanbeck-iunior-center-A pivotpost ace whose training and drive was a great asset to the team at all times, and who will be outstanding next season. Lukins-iunior-center-A lanky center spotman who was always in there pitching and who really knows the meaning of teamwork. Reeves- iunior- center-Another pivotpost man, Loren put all he had into the plays for the Bantams this season. He helped plenty to put the team over. Forge-iunior-guard--Heres to our sizzling Forge who was an ace ball handler and a top man at all times in the score box. He will be invaluable next season. Phillips-junior--Our football back turned to the maple court for a swell game this years elvan played fast, efficient ball, and was an inspiration at all times. Costello-iunior-guard-That red haired vandal whose temper lived up to that carrot-top, played a swell game for the Bantams. Schlee-senior-guard--lake really made the ball talk from the guard spot. Although impaired by previous season injuries, he came through with flying colors. Lawrence-senior-guard-The smallest man on the squad but a Wildcat on the court, Tee played his best for the Bantams this year.
