Graduation is nigh. After twelve years of hard work, and no play (???), our school daze are numbered. The experiences have been many and varied, and these years we will never forget. 20 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We, the Senior Class of 1962, after many years of hard labor, shared with hours of happiness, have reached our highest goal in high school by becoming Seniors. Now, each of us is about to go out into a world of his own. Each is quite different from the other. But, as we go out, we will expecially remember our high school days. We recall the year 1957, the month of September, when the eight of us moved across the hall to the high school side. Not quite in high school, though, being meas- lev eighth graders to the mighty Seniors. This year we found Mrs. Anne Mountcastle our homeroom teacher and Mr. J.D. Smith our new principal. The next year when we returned in September, there were four more students. So the twelve of us joined Mrs. Mountcastle again for a wonderful year as Freshmen. This year was different from the year before. We sort of got into the swing of being in high school, which included studying hard! Time flew and soon we found ourselves as Sophomores. During our Sophomore year, there were only six of us, exactly one-half as many as the year before. But the six of us carried on until Claire Rayner joined us at mid-term. September -- 1960 -- Here we found ourselves as Juniors. Things had really changed, though! We had lost one of our classmates, Durwood Smith, putting us back to six students. We found ourselves under the jurisdiction of a new principal, Mr. E.W. Eanes, and Mrs. Richardson, who was our new homeroom teacher. Our Junior year was a very happy and eventful one. We ordered our class rings and began thinking about our yearbook. Towards the last, we began to realize that we would soon be Seniors. We ended thi: year with a delightful class trip to Charlottesville. September 5, 1961 -- WE BECAME SENIORS!! ! Words cannot express just how we felt. Richard Waitman joined us and the seven of us enrolled in Charles City High for the last time. This year we had a big job to do. We took upon our hands, the task of making the nineteenth volume of the Charles Citian, this taking many hours of de¬ cision. In December we served the Corn Club Supper, which would have been impossible without the help of the Juniors. Next we ordered our announcements and caps and gowns. May Day, 1962, found Ann Adams as May Queen and her excort Archie Crowe. Claire Rayner and Ann Banks were Maids of Honor. After this exciting date came our class trip, one which none of us will forget. At last came graduation, the most important date in our high school life -- our goal completed. 21 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of 1962, being of sound minds and bodies, realizing that the end of our school days is drawing near, do hereby declare this our last will and testament. ARTICLE I To our parents, we do will and bequeath our most sincere love and thanks for making it possible for us to receive the foundation of education. ARTICLE II To our school, we leave our thanks for making the last twelve years such a happy and memorable part of our life. ARTICLE III To Mr. Eanes, we bequeath our most humble thanks and grateful appreciation, for leading us in the right direction for the past two years. To Mrs. Richardson, we leave our love, and hope that you will someday have ANOTHER nice, peaceful class of quiet, conservative students! ARTICLE IV To the Juniors, we will and bequeath our best wishes that you will have a successful year, as did we. We also leave you the right to use Senior Privileges. ARTICLE V I, Ann Adams, do will and bequeath my collection of medals, awarded to me by Mrs. Richardson, to Douglas Harwood. I, Ann Banks, do will and bequeath my ability to faint gracefully, to the girls of C . C . H. S., especially in the presence of a good looking boy! I, Archie Crowe, do will and bequeath my false tooth to Billy Sugar Parsons. I, Tommy Fenton, do will and bequeath my school spirit to John Major. I, Karen Furr, do will and bequeath my temper to Kathy Bergdoll; GOOD LUCK, Kathy! I, Claire Rayner, do will and bequeath m y red hair to anyone who wants it! I, Richard Waitman, do will and bequeath my ability to be in Forestry Contests to Sammy Adams. 22 Sammy Adams Mary Means Vice-President Patsy Allanson Se cretary -Treasurer Billy Johnson President Lynwood Minter Win Berry James Marable Joy Nantz S.C.A.
