Class Mist ory In September of 1956, five boys and two girls moved from the elementary halls to the high school halls. As we soon found out we weren’t high school and we knew we weren’t elementary so we were simply classified as eighth graders. By March we had another classmate--a girl, thank goodness! Mary Ellen wasn’t actually new to us for she began school here and left at the end of the third grade. In May we received a big disappointment--we were left be¬ hind while the rest of the high school went to Washington, D. C. So we took our own trip to Yorktown. The next two years passed quickly and happily. We were now an actual part of high school. September of 1959 found us as Juniors--almost up to the top--and also found us with another classmate. A girl, thank goodness! Betty Moore wasn ' t new to us either--she left here in 1956 and now she had joined‘our class to complete her high school education. In January we had the arrival of another classmate--a girl, thank goodness! Once again, Brenda wasn ' t new to us for she had left us, gone to Germany and returned to finish high school with her original class. We received our class rings in January and by wearing them we thought we had become Seniors--well, almost. September 1960--we actually were SENIORS! Busily we started our final but most rewarding year. We began working on our annual, we looked at announcements upon announcements, and finally and best of all, we ordered our caps and gowns. For four years, we have studied, played, and waited together for our big year. Now that the big year has arrived we are sorry, in a way, that it is here. As we approach the final plateau in Charles City High School, we look back with fond memories, but we also look forward with great anticipation to that which is yet to come. And so our school years come to an end--our departure will sadden us all, for we are breaking up our big, happy family. So it is with regret, that we, the class of 1961--Tommy, Mary Ellen, Betty, Pete, Douglas, Betty, Kenneth, Fini, Brenda and Ricky say-- Farewell, Charles City High School, Farewell. Cast Will and Zest ament We, the Senior Class of 1961, of Charles City High School, being in pos¬ session of reasonably sound mind, an unusual amount of energy, a sufficient amount of dignity, realizing that our days as high school students are numbered, do hereby declare this our last will and testament: Article I To our parents, teachers, and friends who have made our education pos¬ sible, we do bequeath our humble appreciation and love.
