We represent the whole student body which we believe to be the finest ever. We will lead you through a day at our school and show you our activities, recreations, and events. We work and study, but still have time for fun and play. Each day began as teachers counted noses at 8:20, although a few eager beavers could bt- seen shuffling around the halls as early as 7:45. A few minutes later the school parking lot acquired a rush hour appearance as jalopies and family cars rapidly filled the parking space Hundreds of sleepy eyed students plled out and started the long walk up the hill to the school room All of us have had classes that we looked forward to and those that we dreaded We memorized formulas conyugated verbs proved theorems and tried to find solutions to the worlds prob lems as we tasted everything from Shakespeare to Einstein Meeting friends between classes deciding who was to clean the locker arguing on C0mm1tt66S and offering our servlces to faculty members and school organizations broadened our under standing of the people around us The bell at 3 15 signified the end of one part of the day but only the beginning of another very important part of our edu cation Extra curricular activities gave us a chance to further speclal interests and hobbies and to get better acquainted with students and teachers Dinners slowly cooled at home and mothers waited impa tiently as we planned for big dances sock hops variety shows plays and athletic events The long walk home with books under our arms was shortened by thoughts of what the next day would bring Tired but happy we ended each busy day of classes study activity homework and fun CHARLI S F BRUSH I O I O O Charles 1' Brush High Scl ool was named after Charles Francis Brush electrician and inventor of the first prac tical arc light Mr Keller our civics teacher is credited with suggesting this name which was approved by the local school board Charles Brush born rn Euclid Ohio in 1849 received his college education at the University of Michigan In 1876 he perfected an arc lamp that would work successfully on a circuit with a number of other lamps We Brushites are proud that our school was named for Charles F Brush if I N 1 X Xyllx 6 ' 7 7 . . . , . . Besides being a very successful principal he is a man of many other talents. One of his favorite pastimes is printing. Here is a man who has worked hard and has gained the respect and ad- miration of the entire student body and faculty. XWe wish him many more happy and successful years at Brush. The assistant principal at Brush is MR. HOWARD ROBERTS. He is well known for the effective system he devised to get the students to school on time. Many students have come to him for advice because they know he is a sincere and honest listener and will do his best to help them. V X , . INN Dean of Girls, Miss Hazel Reppert, is well loved for her sense of humor. Although she can be very amusing, she can also be one of the most serious, helpful persons at Brush. The girls consider her to be more a pal than a Dean. Dean of Boys. Mr. Robert jackson, is to be congratulated for the wonderful work he has done this, his first year at Brush. He has made friends from fresh- men through faculty that will never forget him. A man who never fails to be a friend in need is indeed the best way to express the way we feel about him. Whether at home or away, the band always put on a sparkling halftime show. During the rest of the year, a very full schedule of events follows, under the direction of Mr. Frank Miller. Besides participating at each pep assembly the band also performed at the Armistice Day Assembly, the Memorial Day Assembly, the Maple Sugar Festival, and also in combined concerts with Garfield and Shaw. Another phase of the band work is the solo and ensemble contest which is competitively held throughout the city. diva f- ',..- ! 'N MING IN CONCERT 'l g,-mg' ' Qg5-X ta . STl'DI?NT VOVNCII From Scpteiiiber until June. the Student Council is snowed under with work ln the fall. busy council members are run ragged in the refreshment stand supplying cocoa and hot dogs for ravenous football fans. The planning of after-school pep rallies is also a project of the Student Council, The beautiful. exciting coronation assembly and the magic of the Varsity Hop arranged by the Council made the homecoming weekend the usual big success. The Student Council also ran the refreshment stand at basket- ball games, supplied hall guards and office assistants. and helped plan a college breakfast for seniors and alumni this year. Perhaps the most ambitious project was the initiation of honor study halls, With the cooperation of the National Honor Society. the Student Council was able to set up study halls run entirely by students. Line Appreciation Week, Clean Up Week, and dances after basketball games were sponsored by the Council. It has been con- tinuously emphasized that the Student Council exists to help all our students.
