LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT DR. C. P. HOGARTH President To the Class 0f1954: You have met the graduation require- ments of the Mississippi State College for Women, and we extend our congratula- tions. We are happy for you, and the under- standing eyes of your Alma Mater will fol- low you throughout your life. Ordinarily, progress is made when peo- ple encounter situations of special difliculty, and these situations rouse them to exert hitherto unprecedented eHort. It is our hope that you will contribute to progress without having to meet situations of special dif- ficulty. We hope that your college education has inspired you to make a contribution to humanity and that you will go right ahead and make it. Your effort in this direction, combined with the effort of other worthy citizens, should at least lessen the number of crises and situations of special difhculty. We are living in a dangerous and challenging age, and it behooves us all to do everything that we can to fill danger pitfalls and steer our course in such a way as not to fall into those that remain. We are conhdent that the MSCW grad- uates of 1954 will do their part in making this world a better place in which to live. We extend to each of you our very best wishes for unlimited usefulness and happiness. Always remember that your Alma Mater welcomes you at any time, and we want you to return to the campus as often as you find it possible to do so. Cordially yours, CAarllm p ellogarlA President
