Four 0l 8 LU0l was I borrz.-Shakespeare The Cougar Memoir for 1955 is being presented as a horoscope. A horoscope or nativity is a map of the heavens at the hour of birth showing the positions of the heavenly bodies and their influence upon man. There are twelve such constellations located in an imaginary broad belt in the heavens, which the sun traverses annually. This is called the zodiac, and each of its twelve signs is credited with its own characteristics and influence. From time immemorial the magic and mystery of the stars have fascinated man. Long before the Christian Era the ancient people began to study them. Through this art or science of astrology man began to predict future events, especially the fortunes of men, by the position of the stars. The deeds and destinies of men were directly credited to the stars. The astrologers of ancient civilization conceived and named the signs of the zodiac which have been handed down through the ages to the present time. We have shown all the signs and symbols of the zodiac throughout this book. How can you read your horoscope? It is really very easy. All you need to know is your birthday. Then check the cable of contents on page six for your natal sign, and read your own horoscope on the prescribed page. Because of space limitations we have included the birthdays of seniors and members of the faculty only. To all of you, however, the Cougar Memoir wishes a happy birthday, and-watch that horoscope.
