Psychiatric nursing — where the Therapist is the therapy! Establishing helpful nurse - patient relationships was the theme of the course in psychiatric nursing, with emphasis on understanding be¬ havior and purposeful use of self. A welcome addition this year was the affiliation with the Veterans Administration Hospital for nursing experience. Through such planned experiences as establishing one-to- one relationships, participating in group activities with patients, and independent study projects, oppor¬ tunities were provided to gain a better understanding of all persons and the ability to use the concepts of psychiatric nursing in all areas of nursing practice.
