Nighty night Beauty Court and Escorts Student Council Student Council, the governing division of the student body, is composed of duly elected officers and representatives from each class including the affiliate classes. It is a method of student self-government which is granted and supported by the school administration. Weekly meetings are held to consider in¬ fractions of regulations with which students are charged, to discuss current problems, and to suggest im¬ provements for the general welfare of the student body. It offers one a true insight into student problems and administration policies. The association has functioned to prepare students for membership in grad¬ uate associations by acquainting them with the purpose, goals, and programs of the professional organ¬ ization, thereby providing a solid foundation upon which to base their activities in the association. This year ' s group has been very active on local, state, and national levels. Anneta Stanton, Char¬ ity ' s candidate, was chosen Student Nurse of the State. Our display carried away the Chadwick Award, first place trophy at the state convention. Charity placed two students in local offices and one in a state office. Among its achievements are: a Christmas program, a concert at St. Martin ' s Protestant Episcopal School, and a spring concert at the Orleans Club. Many more performances are planned for the oncoming year, including television programs. As well as the fun connected with belonging, the Junior Librarians have offered services to the Library by arranging displays and donating long play records purchased with the money derived from their book- sale. In the way of cultural activities, this year, they have taken tours of the Cabildo, Delgado Museum and the Public Library. MRS. Other activities included the Thanksgiving baskets for the poor, a children ' s party, a retreat in April and the celebration of the Crowning of our Blessed Virgin during May, the month especially dedicated to Our Mother. Guest speakers are invited for each devotional time and give brief ideas, opinions and discussions on various subjects. The Protestant Chapel has had a very good year of spiritual activity, which includes chapel services, Bible studies and discussions, charitable assistance to the needy, and occasional social get-togethers.
