It is a method of student self-govern¬ ment which is granted and supported by the school administration. Weekly meetings are held to consider infractions of regulations with which students are charged, to discuss current problems, and to suggest improvements for the general welfare of the student body. It offers one a true insight into student problems and administration policies. Prestige and respect are given its members as representatives of the student body. Miss Stella O’Connor Sponsor STUDENT COUNCIL L.A.S.N. The Louisiana Association of Student Nurses, since its organization in 1950, has played a vital part in student life and activities. This association has func¬ tioned to prepare students for membership in graduate associations by acquaint¬ ing them with the purpose, goals and program of the professional association, thereby providing a solid foundation upon which to base their activities in the association. This year Charity’s L. A. S. N. has been active on a local, district and state level, attaining 100% membership of the student body, election of several dis¬ trict officers and one state officer. Under the sponsorship of Miss Gloria Gernhauser, Charity ' s L. A. S. N. can point with pride to a year of progressive and effective organization. For the year 1958-1959, the White Cap was under the capable guidance of Sally Cooper, editor, and Miss Joy Ellen Leggio, Faculty Advisor. Together with the staff members of the paper, they have pre¬ sented, with an increased number of publications, an accurate and thorough news presentation throughout the year. Miss Joy Ellen Leggio Faculty Advisor asfns ATHLETIC CLUB Emerging victorious from another exciting and challenging season, the Athletic Club continues to add coveted trophies to its proud collection. Led by Captain Willene Brown, who was named Best Athlete, and under the able direction of Coach Elroy Scott, the club has indeed come through in Championship style. Champions of the Cotton State Nurses ' Invitational Basketball Tournament in Mem¬ phis, Tennessee, the team also won Second place in both the Nurses ' Basketball and Volleyball League in New Orleans. After getting acquainted at an ice cream party, the junior librarians began their year’s activities by sponsoring a cultural movie for the stu¬ dent body. Then followed a book sale and tour of the Public Library, the Civic Center, and the Delgado Museum. Another of its activities was that of securing paintings from the Public Library for display in Charity’s own hallowed halls. Guest speakers are invited for each meeting and include missionaries, Ministerial students and laymen. The Protestant Chapel has had an eventful year of spiritual activity. Points of interest in its pro¬ gram included regular chapel services, Bible studies, and charitable assistance to the needy. The Baptist Student Union is a religious organization composed of all Baptist students from each class in the student body.
