Our clinical experience this year has been expanded to encompass details which we pray God we may never be called upon to use— but details so vital to patients, staff, and citizens at large, that we are doing our utmost to educate ourselves for war-time living and war-time nursing. [20] ★ We look back with a slight nostal¬ gia to the time when words such as blackout, first aid, volunteer work, preparedness were foreign to us—but we look forward to the ultimate triumph of our country with a feeling of confidence that we shall have done our part willingly and skill¬ fully. Senior students in First Aid classes learn to treat injuries without benefit of the doctor ' s skill or of hospital equipment. ★ Blackout shields and special painting precautions hide the powerful operating room lights from the outside view. 1 J L l J 1 J 1 J L Accident Room . . . Medical Clinic . . . E. N. T. Clinic. Our clinical practice is the true test of nursing ability. Here we put to actual use the principles learned through many hours in the classroom and laboratory. The Nursery Assistant Clinical Directors, Drs. Prejean, Thomas, and O ' Neil, pause during the busy routine of the Student services are many and va¬ ried. Woe betide those who fail to hand in time calendars before 6:30 a. m. 2. Grace before breakfast starts the day off right. 3. Morning Circle—the ward’s setting-up exercise whereby students and gradu¬ ates review technics and procedures and study disease conditions, thereby becoming more responsive to the tasks before them. 4. The nurse ' s daily dozen—taking t.p.r. ' s. 5. Favorite meeting place—three times a day! 5:48 a.m.—and another day begins. 1. Oh, the utter futility of life when our mailboxes reveal only a laundry slip and a time calendar! 2. Readin ' , ' rltin ' , and ' rithmetic for the P.C,.
