Just them Chapman came into view. Every time 1 see the school, butterflies seem to fill my stomach. Everyone forgot those speed breakers and we bounced all over the bus. The bus finally stopped and we got out. Reluctantly-very reluc- tantly. I met some of the guys on the football bleachers. We have hung out there ever since we were freshmen. It was still that cool part of morning. We didn’t talk a whole lot. Wc just kinda sat and stared ourselves to sleep as we looked to the grassy field of dew. I guess we were all thinking those kinda private thoughts about school, teachers, friends, grade, the future . . . What's out there for us in the future. The bell rang for homeroom. The official opening of Chap- man's tune. My feet didn't want to go-but I knew I had to. I wondered how much I'd do, if I didn't have to? Knowing Mrs. Waters she's going to want an excuse for the last three months. Theme 9

August 21, 1975 at the same time I stuffed the last spoonful of Captain Crunch (my little sister's cereal-not mine) into my mouth. The horn of the bus. !!? It happens every time I'm late . . . the bus comes early. 1 made it and settled down into my seat. School-my last year. Then it hit me-I'm The Big Senior! Whew! I thought about that first day of school twelve years ago. 1st grade. I cried, Mom cried, the teacher cried, but I made it. Yep. I ley what's it going to be like this year? The summer went by so fast. Peach shed. Myrtle Beach, School. I thought of all those piles of homework ahead of me. Is Senior biology as hard as I've heard? Wonder if I can change my schedule and get early dismassal. I thought I had just fallen asleep, only to be awakened by the pesty tinkering of the alarm clock. I clicked it off, still mostly asleep, and rolled over. Then it hit me way deep down in the pit of my stomach . . today was the first day of school! I looked at the clock again. Fifteen minutes to make it! I dressed on the way to the kitchen and finished the job of tucking my shirt tail in 8 Theme

October 9, 1975. . . The Year of the Panther . .. The Year of Pie! ... Splat! Man . . . what a pep rally ... I mean it was really good for a change. We actually had SPIRIT. I can't believe it last week Mr. Miller got the pie in the face-today was Walkowicz' turn. SMACK-1 mean Jon creamed him! You gotta hand it to Mr. Miller and Mr. Walk- owicz, that took guts! I wonder who's going to get it next. The spirit's alot better this year. Everything's a little bet- ter around school. Of course some of the same people a- round here wouldn't look ex- cited if a Mack truck ran over their big toe and maybe even their whole foot. Oh well! I’m going to the game tonight. ■Mil 10 Theme
