The contest is judged on the basis of talent, appearance, and poise. This year nine girls competed for the title. (1) They were (left to right) Mary Lee Towery, Sarah Tinsley, Susan Teague, Jane Strange, Cheryl Smith, Rose Marie Hammett, Mae Helen Fowler, Su- san Berry, and Margaret Ballenger.
