Here we have all found a new beginning. To freshmen it is the beginning of four years of hard work. To sophomores it is the beginning of a feeling of security. To juniors it is the beginning of maturity. To seniors it is the beginning of the end of twelve unforget- table years. Our hope is that this volume will serve not only as a record to recall people and events, but to recall a larger experience, “CHAPMAN”, where each of us had our own New Beginning. We, the yearbook staff of Chapman High School, proudly present to you- The 1969 PANORAMA. The Editor. Janice Hill........................................Editor Chris Evington..........................Business Manager Candy Andrews............................Assistant Editor Melanie Owens.................Assistant Business Manager Mr. John C. Hart .................................Advisor 3 Dedication A school can educate, train, motivate, and inspire. Chapman has done her share in instilling those qualities that will prepare her graduates for leadership and citizenship and enable them to take their rightful places in the world. Chapman has done her share to educate and train boys to be men of tomorrow. For each one, graduation means the beginning of a new and different life. One of their obligations of citizenship is to defend and protect our country so that those who come after us will be able to enjoy the rights and freedoms handed down to us by others. Many Chapman boys have given a portion of their young manhood in service to their country. Not all boys have the chance to Fight, but each one has a place and a duty. To the Chapman boys in the Armed Forces, the 1969 PANORAMA is dedicated. 4 Jn TKemoriam MRS. HELEN H. COSTNER Teacher at Chapman 1957-1968 “God calls our loved ones. Lunchbreak provides a time for under- classmen to perform their antics. Seniors begin to have thoughts of the days to come. They discuss with each other their plans for the future. As the 1968-69 PANORAMA goes to press, we realize that the time has come when we can once again begin to act like human beings. We breathe a sigh of relief (and perhaps disbelief) that everything is done. But even more than this, it is a time for a final word of appreciation and quite a few “Thank-you’s” that went unsaid during the rush of it all. Many thanks go to the following: Mr. John C. Hart, our sponsor, whose guidance and patience meant a great deal. Mr. Glenn L. Miller, who showed a great interest in our yearbook. Mrs. Vendetta Nicholson, who was so kind in helping us arrange picture schedules. Dr. Mrs. James E. Allgood, whose home was used for the making of Senior Superlative pictures. Mr. Werts, who allowed us to have the Miss Panorama Contest at Inman Elementary. The Faculty, for their understanding and patience in the endless interruptions. Ross Holroyd and Rodney Hipp, for drawing and painting the scenery for Miss Panorama. Jack Waters, for doing the endshcet artwork. Delmar Printing Company, for their understanding and cooperation in the production of this book. Mr. Tommy Briggs, Delmar representative, for his assistance and unlimited cooperation. The advertisers, without whose help the yearbook would not be possible. My family and friends, who have understood and forgiven being placed first only after the PANORAMA. The Staff A special “Thank-you” to the members of the PANORAMA staff, who have worked so hard, and spent many long hours, preparing material for this book. It has been a busy year. While we worked, the PANORAMA was our book; now it is yours. Janice Hill, editor 1969 PANORAMA
