XVe shall ever love them for the part they had in our educa- tion. May their memories of us be pleas- ant also! Every student, from the time he first entered high school, looked forward to attending a Junior-Senior. The many pro- jects carried out to finance the big event afforded us many hours of wholesome fel- lowship. And then the big night! The girls in their frilly dresses and the boys in tux added to the festivity of the oc- casion. Mrs. Hallie J. Sonther Mrs. Souther began her teaching career at Switzer in the XVoodrutT district. After two years there she moved to Campobello where she taught for four years. Then she taught at Holly Springs for eleven years. In 1954, when Chapman High School was bnilt, she came here as an instructor in the mathematics department. DEDICATICN ller kindness toward us and her ability to teach and understand have endeared her to us. In appre- ciation for all she has done, not only as a teacher but also as a friend. we dedicate the 1958 PAN- ORAMA to Mrs. Hallie -I. Souther - a devoted mother. a Christian citizen, and a loving teacher. HUMBLY, WE DEDICATE TO Q... mvn I TRATIO ADMINISTRATION MR. T. IE. MARRY ., - 'skim' C'ullvg4',' M.. Lvft to right-Paul Hibbard, Mrs. Hibbard, Mr, Hibbard. Paul Hibbard, an honor student in the junior class, has proven that living can be worthwhile and happy, even though he can move no part of his body except his head. Nearly four years ago Polio struck Paul. lle was treated at Spartanburg General 'I lospital and later transferred to Vander- bilt University Hospital in N a s h v il l e, where he was taught to breathe and use his teeth to hold objects. XYhen he returned honle, an inter-co1n- inunications system between his home and Chapman High School was set up. Paul then continued his education from Chap- man. l'aul's life is full. lle not only does excel- lent work in his studies but also enjoys good music. Recently be took up painting as a pastime. ,Xt the l957 Piedmont Interstate Fair he won a first prize and a second with a woodland scene and The l'otter's Hands, respectively. The students at Chapman lligh School appreciate Paul. DRIVER EDUCATICDN Many good drivers have been developed in the classes in driver education. On the other hand, there have been '1 few that were not so good. Since the course was first oftered four years ago, only about ten per cent, upon completing the course, have failed to receive their drivers' licenses.
