WE DEVELOP • • • Winter offers us the fast moving sport of basketball. Both players and spectators alike spend many enjoyable winter evenings in the school gym.

WE MATURE... Pep rallies help to enliven our school spirit. They are held by a blazing bonfire or in the gym. The informal dances at CHHS are held in the gymnasium where, to protect the floor, we dance in our socks. Victory dances after the games are always popular after an exciting game. Other sock hops during the year may be sponsored by the different clubs. Sarah Umstead, our recreational director, is always there to play the records. Sarah also keeps the gymnasium open on Saturday mornings and evenings. The biggest events of the year are, of course, the formal dances. The first of these is the traditional Thanksgiving Dance, followed by the Y-Teens ' New Years Eve Dance. In February, the sweethearts of CHHS are announced and crowned at the Sweetheart Ball, given this year by the Junior Class. With the arrival of spring, the Y-Teens bring us the May King Ball. And finally, windingup the year, is the magnificent Junior -Senior . A traditional farewell tri- bute to the graduating class, this event represents a year of planning and labor by the hard -working Junior Class.
