...fht mmwtftf In the town and country surrounding our school, we see things which are a part of our life and which have influ- enced us during our high school years. The civic clubs, churches, synagogues, and townspeople have all devoted their time and effort to us and our school. We are fortunate in beingpart of a university community. Many distinguished guests have spoken to our clubs and student body. We are proud of the fine farms surrounding our town. We take pride in the business establishments of Chapel Hill, our home town.

OUR LIVES BEGAN CHHS ' ers are active in many community affair s . There is wide participation in our church and synagogue youth groups . The various clubs and servi ce organ- izations sponsor such projects as filling Thanksgiving baskets, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Empty Stocking Fund, and the Hospital Carol Sing. 6

WE LEARN • • • We ' re proud of our high school, a handsome colonial style building on West Franklin Street. The first wing was built in 1947 while the main part was finished in 1952. We enjoy our new cafeteria. Our new gym provides a place for both education and enjoyment.
